This is the real picture of GDS after implementation of IPPB.

As per Swamys’s Compilation of Service Rules for Postal Gramin Dak Sevaks

Section V (15) Rule

” The daily working hours of ED Agents except ED Chowkidars are , subject to maximum of 5 hours and it will not be in order if the ceiling is exceeded “

Section V (16) Rule clearly mentioned as below

The working hours of EDSOs are for a period of 5 hours and EDBOs for a period of 3 hours.

Therefore , the EDSPM will be on duty for a period of 5 hours and the EDBPM will be on duty for a period of 3 hours.

EDSO’s were abolished by the recommendations of the previous GDS Committee.

Is it justified ?

Under Secretary to the Government of India
