Centre will implement OROP once modalities sorted: Parrikar

As ex-servicemen continued to protest here for the implementation of the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme, the government on Friday said it is “aware” of the agitation and would implement the scheme once the modalities are sorted out.

“The government is aware that ex-servicemen have been agitating for the implementation of the OROP scheme from 2008 onwards,” Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

“The policy of ‘One Rank One Pension’ has been adopted by the government to address the pension disparities, in the budget of 2014-15,” he said.

“The modalities for the implementation of OROP are under the consideration of the government. It will be implemented once the modalities are approved by the government,” Parrikar added.

Meanwhile, the relay hunger strike by ex-servicemen at Jantar Mantar here, which started on June 15, continued for the 40th day on Friday.

Social activist Anna Hazare would join the protesting ex-servicemen here on Sunday, a statement said.

A run in support of OROP would also be held on Sunday. The ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas Run for OROP’ will be led by bladerunner Maj. D.P. Singh.

Singh, an army veteran, was grievously injured in Kargil during Operation Vijay. His right leg was amputated, but this did not tie him down as he started running with a blade leg.

The ex-servicemen also plan to send a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on their demands.

“We request the prime minister to honour his assurances to the defence personnel at Siachen and order immediate implementation of the OROP as per the approved definition and without any dilution,” a statement from the National Ex-Servicemen Coordination Committee said.

The Defence Minister has proved that he has no Capacity to get One Rank One Pension implemented and the Prime Minister has amply displayed his nature of Untrustwothiness as far as War Veterans and relatives of Martyrs. If the Veterans and the widows of Martyrs have to hit the streets to get their rightful dues who will enrol themselves to die for this Country? when the serving Officers and Soldiers see their Commanding Officers and Brigade, Division, Corps Commanders sitting in Dharna or Hunger Strike he does not need much imagination to foresee his fate after hanging his Uniform. Does this bode good for Morale and Discipline of our Armed Forces. This Government which increases Salaries and Pensions of Parliament and Proposes OROP to Judges (is ita Bribe?) in matter of Hours and days is unable to implement OROP for Veterans even after three Decades. God save our Nation

In numerous ways an exserviceman is ill-treated after he comes out from service. In my case I am being paid not even half of the pay drawn by a person who comes out of service after Jan 2006. Every Indian citizen have the right to get equal pay for equal work. But in the banking service this parity is being blatantly ignored. How this can be justified..?Am I not a person eligible for justice…? I am not alone there are many others who are in this condition..why we are denied of our genuine right getting pay parity…?

I rendered more than 15 years enrolled service in naval force from 02.08.79 to 31.08.94. When my term came to end I was sanctioned preperatory leave stating he is due for release on 31.08.94, eligible to take civil job after this date or date from which annual leave or release leave is granted, which ever earlier.
Navy turned hostile, suppressed facts, claimed service rendered is 10 years 7 months, granted 21000 rs gratuity denied pension. From last 22 years I have knocked every court and every office but no relief.
Finally after 22 years of retirement I may get pension. So cruel and hostile are naval authority and it works like a son mafia.
My liberty and fundamental rights were restricted and abrogated for more than 15 years.
Who were these people who suppressed enrolment facts and sanction of release leave, they were none other than navy commissioned officers headed by chief of naval staff. These officials are cruel, hostile and self centred , who don’t respect facts and constitution, the real wolf in fraternity. They should take responsibility of such sorry state and inflicting cruelty for personal gain suppressing facts. So many enrolled person have suffered at their hand. I feel extremely bitter about than , MOD and judicery who just don’t want to listen. No one had been more cruel than navy.
God bless India and save from naval officials.

Mr Parrikar the DM has been fooloing the IESM for the last six months now. It is beyond my comprehension what he means by the modalities that are being worked out. I am sure it is neither rocket science nor an ardous task like climbing the Mt. Everest. On this occasion when the country is celebrating the victory of Kargil war, It would do well for Mr. Parrikar to remember several officers and jawans climbed the peaks of Kargil to dislodge the Pakistani troops that occupied them. Surely the task before the so called Babus are not facing a more difficult task than what the the soldiers faced that day. How long will Mr. Parrikar will pull wool over the eyes of the IESM? A country with a DM whose credibility is suspect is close to a banan republic and is likely to face innumerable troubles ahead. II is sincerely hoped the country will not suffer inspite of successive inept DMs. Lastly the present DM is supposed be an IITian, but many wonder how different is he from the last DM who did not go through any hallowed portals?

I WROTE TO VP SING WHEN HE WAS ELECTED TO PM OF INDIA AND ASKED TO FULFILL HIS ASSURANCES AND PROMISES TO US. WHEN HE FAILED,I WROTE TO HIM AND ASKED HIM “TO COUNT YOUR DAYS”. AND IT WAS DONE.

HEY, MODI, HE Y PARIKAR, I WILL ASK YOU TO COUNT YOUR DAYS SHORTLY. AND,IF YOU FAIL TO FULFILL THE PROMISES OF OROP WHEN YOU RECEIVE OUR LETTER THAT WILL BE THE FIRST DAY OF COUNTING. ASK HOW MANY DAYS YOU WANT?
I AM HONEST. I WILL KEEP THE PROMISE AND ASSURANCE. I WILL NOT BREAK THEM. SO ASK HOW MANY DAYS YOU WANT?

HEY, PARIKAR! YOU THINK YOUR ‘MODALITIES’ YOU PLACED BEFORE THE ‘OROP’ IS A BIG MOUNTAIN FOR THE EX-SERVICEMEN. BUT,YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY SECONDS AND ROUNDS IT NEED TO BREAK TO DUST. YOU NEVER HANDLED A GUN, NOR YOU KNOW HOW BIG MOUNTAINS THIS EX-SERVICEMEN HAD MADE TO PIECES DURING THE WARS SINCE 1962. IT IS NOTHING FOR THEM; THEY COULD THROW YOUR BOULDER LIKE A STONE THROW ON A CROW. BUT YOU WILL BE BURIED UNDER NEATH.

YOU BROUGHT THIS ‘MODALITIES’ FOR NO GOOD REASON BUT TO PASS YOUR TERM
PLAYING WITH IT LIKE FOOTBALL PLAYERS KICK BALL FROM ONE COURT TO THE OTHER. DON’T YOU KNOW THAT THE BALL IS THROWN TO TRASH ONCE THE PLAY IS OVER?

WE WILL REMOVE YOUR BALL OR THE ‘MODALITIES’ BOULDER AS TRASH AND BURY YOU FOR EVER SHORTLY.

    PLEASE DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE.
