4% DA hike from Jan 2020 confirmed

According to Labour Bureau Press release, AICPIN increased 2 points and fixed with 330 and DA from January 2020 has been finalised. Basically DA hike relieves the employees from rising inflation. In November 2019, the CPI has pegged at 328. Based on Retail price of essential commodities of past month, Labour Bureau issues the declaration of Consumer Price Index for that particular month.

Labour Bureau released AICPIN for the month of December 2019 on 31st January 2020 which is increased by 2 points, and it has determined that the rate of DA from 1st January 2020 will be enhanced to 21% from 17% with 4% Hike.

So now, we have 12 Months AICPIN value to calculate the Dearness Allowance from January 2020. Already Central Government employees are receiving 17% DA from July 2019.

DA% = (Average of AICPIN for past 12 months-261.4)*100/261.4

As per this calculation central government employees may get 4% hike in DA, it will go up to 21%, but this will be confirmed only after the approve of union cabinet. The announcement can expect in early March 2020.
