oct 2 It’s Clean India Day Cleanliness is next to godliness, they have been saying for this for long but do we follow it? Now, our honourable PM has taken the lead in making India clean. While delivering his Speech on the Independence Day on August 15, Mr. Modi clearly stated the reason for launching the clean India campaign,

“I come from a poor family, I have seen poverty. The poor need respect and it begins with cleanliness. I, therefore, have to launch a ‘clean India’ campaign from October 2 this year… “

Modi’s ‘clean India’ campaign will certainly have a great impact and change the look and feel of government offices across India. He has plans to continue this new tradition for four years to come. On October 2, Gandhi Jayanthi, all government employees will have to be present in their offices and take the ‘Swachhata Shapath’ (pledge of cleanliness). The pledge will be administered by senior officials during the public functions and other events related to October 2 celebrations.

The directive further says that there will be a special cleanliness drive in government offices from Thursday till October 2 to get rid of the clutter, garbage and old and unwanted things from government office premises. Surprise inspections will be made to check the effectiveness of drive.
