OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Revision in the rates of Personal Pay in respect of Central Government employees for participating in sporting events and tournaments of national/international importance.

The undersigned is directed to refer to this Department’s OM of even number dated 19th September, 2013 in terms of which sportsperson is entitled to revise the amount of personal pay subject to a minimum of Rs.210/ per month as indicated in Column 7 of Annexure to this OM. This revised rate is applicable prospectively w.e.f. 1.9.2013 from the date of issue of this OM.

2. References are received from various Ministries/Department about the applicability of this OM prior to 1.9.2013. It is clarified that as the revised rate of personal pay has been made effective prospectively from 1st September, 2013, sportspersons who have achieved excellence in sporting events of national and international events falling between 1.1.2006 to 31.8.2013 are entitled to personal pay as per OM No.6/1/97-Estt(Pay-1) dated 8th August, 2001, read with OM No.13/26/92-Estt(Pay-1) dated 23.10.2001. The revised rate of personal pay is applicable w.e.f. 1.9.2013 as indicated in Column 7 of the Annexure of OM dated 19th September, 2013.
