Subject: Revision of monetary ceiling for purchase of briefcases / ladies purses for official purposes – reg.

Considering requests/ suggestions of various officers of Department of Posts regarding revision of financial limits of expenditure / reimbursement of expenditure on purchase of briefcases/lady’s purses, it has been decided by the competent authority to revise the financial limits prescribed vide circular of even number dated 3.10.2008 as under:

Directors/DSs/Sr.PPS and equivalent

(Grade Pay-Rs. 7600/- to Rs. 8700/-)

Rs. 5,000/-
ADsG/USs/Ads/SOs/PSs and equivalent

(Grade Pay-Rs. 4800/- to Rs. 6600/-)

Rs. 4,000/-
Assistant/PAs/Stenos and equivalent

(Grade Pay-Rs. 4200/- to Rs. 4600/-)

Rs. 3,500/-
  1. The entitled officers/officials are free to procure briefcases/ladies purses of their own choice from any of the private / public outlet. However, reimbursement shall be restricted to the above mentioned ceiling concomitant with the respective level/grade pay of officer/official.
  1. The periodicity of replacement shall be 3 years across all categories.
  1. The above ceiling is effective from the date of issue of this order.
