            Please find enclosed a copy of AGIF letter No. A/56271/R/AG/Ins (Coord), dated 30.05.2013 regarding change in the rates of subscription in respect of Officers/JCOs/Ors of Indian Army for information and necessary action. The enhanced rate of monthly subscription is to be recovered commencing from pay for Aug 2013 payable on 31.08.2013.

2.         In this context, it is also requested that suitable instructions on the subject may please be issued to all the PAOs functioning under your jurisdiction for taking action as per AGIF letter mentioned above.

            Please acknowledge receipt.

CHANGE IN THE RATES OF SUBSCRIPTION

ARMY GROUP INSURANCE FUND (AGIF)

 

1.         Reference Ministry of Defence letter No A/56302/AG/Insurance/1052/D (Pay/ Services) dated 16 Mar 1982, our letter No A/56271/R/AG/Ins(Coord) dated 02 Dec 2010 and your letter No AT/I/1496/VI dated 15 Dec 2010 (copies attached).

 

2.         The Board of Governors of AGIF has approved the enhancement in insurance cover to its serving members and also revised rates of monthly subscription by them for the Army Group Insurance Scheme. The revised scheme is to be implemented with effect from 01 Sep 2013 onwards.

 

3.         The new rates of insurance cover and subscription to be deducted for various categories of members are as under :-

 

(a)  Commissioned Officers including MNS Officers and Re-employed Officers of Regular Army and Army Postal Service (APS).

 

(i)                Insurance Cover                                         – 50 lac.

 

(ii)             Monthly subscription to be recovered commencing from pay for Aug 2013 payable on 31 Aug 2013 at the enhanced rate as follows:-

 

(aa)     Regular Army Officers                 – 5000/- per month.

            (including MNS Officers

            and Re-employed Officers)

 

(ab)     APS Officers                                                – 5190/- per month.

 

(b) Junior Commissioned Officers (including those granted Honorary Commission) and Other Ranks of Regular Army including APS and Defence Secruity Corps (DSC).

 

(i)                Insurance Cover                                         – 25 lac.

 

(ii)             Monthly subscription to be recovered commencing from pay for Aug 2013 payable on 31 Aug 2013 at the enhanced rate as follows:-

 

(aa)     Regular Army JCOs/OR                – 2500/- per month.

 

(ab)     APS JCOs/OR                                  – 2525/- per month.

 

(ac)     DSC JCOs/OR                                  – 2590/- per month.

 

4.         It is requested to kingly issue necessary instructions to all concerned in accordance with the authority vested in you by Ministry of Finance (Defence) U.O. No 885/PD of 1982.

    Quarry for the following example :-

    A person insured for AGIF, his insurance is valid till date 01/08/2016.

    If he will be alive on that date, is AGIF going to pay the benefits???

    Please clarify.
