The New Health Insurance Scheme to provide comprehensive health care assistance to the Employees of
Government, Local Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory Boards and State Government Universities and
their family members with provision to avail assistance upto Rupees two lakhs w.e.f 11-06-2008
and is in operation for the block period of four years upto 10-06-2012.
2. In the Government Orders further read above, the scheme has been extended to the employees including their family members of the Noon Meal Workers, Anganwadi Helpers, State Government Organisations / Institutions
registered under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Societies Act, 1975, Regular Employees of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission and Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies.
3. The Government has examined the extension of the New Health Insurance Scheme beyond 10-06-2012 and decided to accept the same. Accordingly, the New Health Insurance Scheme 2012 shall be implemented with effect from 11-06-2012 with the following changes:-
(a) The subscription under the New Health Insurance Scheme 2012 for the employees shall be Rs.75/- (Rupees Seventy Five only) per month.
(b) The present limit of the assistance under the above scheme shall be enhanced from Rupees two lakhs for the block period of four years to Rupees Four lakhs in a block period of four years and new health problems will also be covered.
(c) A suitable Public Sector Health Insurance Company for implementation of the New Health Insurance Scheme 2012 will be selected through National Competitive bidding as in the case of the Chief Minister’s Public Insurance Scheme.
4. Further modalities, terms and conditions for the New Health Insurance Scheme 2012 will be issued separately.
