Employees suspended for absence from duty

Thirteen employees of the government-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here have been suspended by the Deputy Commissioner of Doda for being absent from duty, officials said today.

Acting on complaints about increasing absenteeism in government offices, the area’s tehsildar submitted a report to Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmed Khan, stating that only three out of sixteen officials of ITI were found to be present during a raid at its premises.

Khan placed the absentees, including the superintendent of the institute, under suspension with immediate effect pending a detailed inquiry.

He has written to the Director of Technical Education, seeking an inquiry into the matter and has also requested him to make arrangements for required staff in the institute till completion of the inquiry.
