CENTRAL PENSIONERS AGM HELD

The Central Government Pensioners Association held its Annual General body Meeting (AGM) and election of office-bearers on June 20 at Sadvidya Educational Institution premises.

Pensioners Seva Dhurina Dr. T. S. Satyanarayana Rao was unanimously elected as President of the Association for the 6th time with Ranganath as Vice- President, Shamim Ahmed as Secretary and Mohan Treasurer.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Rao explained the various problems being faced by the retired Central government pensioners in Mysore and how the Association has been lending a helping hand in obtaining pensioner’s benefits etc.

He stated that another important issue that is being followed up by the Association is how to obtain proper medical facility and treatment at Tier-Two cities like Mysore and surrounding areas.

Even though they have paid lumpsum amounts to CGHS at the time of retirement for getting OPD/Inpatient treatments, due to personal reasons, some were forced to live in other cities like Mysore etc; Pensioners in such cities are being denied their facility of out patient and in patient service due to absence of CGHS facility. Efforts of the Association have borne fruit recently and a revised medical allowance of Rs.300 per month has been sanctioned by Central Government with effect from September 2008, with the condition that the pensioner surrenders his right to OPD treatment at places where his card is attached to a CGHS dispensary from Sept 2008. He said the group health insurance scheme that is on the anvil.

Dr. Rao has requested all members of the Association to contact the Association Office to get full details of the format with which to claim the revised medical allowance retrospectively.
