Likely Dearness Allowance for July 2011 for Central Employees.

Likely Dearness Allowance for July 2011 for Central Employees.

Though it is very early to predict the D.A. for July 2011 at this point of time, we are being flooded by queries in this relation. It may be realized that D.A. is complete based on arithmetical calculation on All India CPI (IW) (Base 2001=100), the data for the entire six months is required to calculate the installment of D.A. payable. The labour bureau has released the figure for Jan, Feb and March as 188, 185 and 185 respectively. We are yet to know the figures of April, May and June. If we assume that there is no further increase or decrease in the numbers {maintains the cureent level for the next 3 months}, the D. A will be 7% from July 2011.
It is again reminded that it is only an assumption, the correct figure will be uploaded as soon as data available.

The AICPI for the month of April, 2011 is 186 points. Even if the index for the months of May, 2011 and June, 2011 goes up by 188 and 190 points respectively , the twelve months average comes to 183.75 points and the D.A. from 1-7-2011 works out 58.73 %. Therefore, Central Government Employees will get only 7 % increase in D.A. from 1-7-2011

Consequent on the grant of D.A. rates at 51% w.e.f.1-1-2011, the quantum of certain allowances are automatically required to be enhanced 25 % more than the existing rates as per Ministry of Finance orders on these allowances. However, most of the PAOs/Departments are not agreeing for automatic revision and advised to wait till suitable orders/clarifications from the Ministry of Finance. Ministry of Railways have already issued the clarifications, If similar clarificatory orders are issued by the Min.of Finance, it will greatly help to regulate the claims.
